There are some conditions when massage may not be beneficial to you and the therapist may want to consult with your physician or other health care professional before proceeding. These conditions may include blood clots, some types of cancers and recent strokes. Pregnancy Massage Massage during pregnancy can: relieve pain in muscles and joints, increase flexibility, relieve abdominal soreness, ease constipation, reduce excess fluid retention, slow the progress of varicose veins and relieve headaches. Massage during labor can reduce discomfort and provide relaxation between contractions. Our massage therapist is certified in pregnancy massage. Call today for an appointment. Newborn Massage An introductory class on newborn massage is available at the Women's Health Center by Pascale Reding-Chow, LMT and Pam Eichler, LMT. In this class, parents or expectant parents learn early infant communication, crying and coping, baby's time out cues, comforting, and giving a loving, gentle massage. This class is for parents of medically stable infants, or expectant parents. Classes are offered the second Saturday of every month. Please call the Women's Health Center for more information. |
