Volunteer Services
We encourage and support individuals who wish to make an impact on the healthcare we provide to our community. We have a very active volunteer program that includes adults, teens and Miami University students. If interested in volunteering, you may pick up a volunteer application at the Volunteer Service Office between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or at the Courtesy Desk in the main lobby, Monday through Friday. If you would like an application mailed to you, or if you have questions, please call the Volunteer Services Department at (513) 524-5671.
Adult Volunteers
Adults may volunteer in the following areas:
- Gift Shop
- Surgical Host/Hostess
- Courtesy Volunteer
- Obstetrics
- Office Assistance
- Inpatient Care
- Wellness Center
- Same Day Surgery
Miami University Student Volunteers
Miami University students may volunteer in the following areas:
- Physical Therapy
- Imaging Department
- Office Assistance
- Emergency Department
- Nutrition Services
- Obstetrics
- Inpatient Care
We ask that Miami student volunteers commit to at least two semesters, and average two to four hours of service per week.
General Orientation Classes are scheduled for February, September and October, and are required prior to volunteering.
Teen Volunteers
Teens may volunteer in the following areas:
- Physical Therapy
- Imaging Department
- Office Assistance
- Emergency Department
- Inpatient Care
You must be 15 years of age or entering your sophomore year in high school to be a Teen Volunteer. Filling out an application does not assure placement into the program due to a limited number of openings. Volunteers are chosen based on qualifications and interests.
Teen Volunteers are expected to give an average of two to three hours a week, for minimum of 75 hours per year. Considering vacations, this will take about 10-12 months. Teens also may volunteer eight to 10 hours per week during the summer.
The Teen Orientation Class is held in the spring.
