A major fundraising goal in 2008 is the completion of a project started in 2007 to raise $578,000 to expand our Oncology Clinic.
The remodel of the Oncology Clinic will focus on three key areas of concern: space, privacy, and access. Current conditions in the clinic are cramped, and it is difficult for patients to get access. There is little room for family and friends to provide support for their loved ones, and there is no privacy for oncology patients who may need more personal space. The new clinic will address all three of these needs, as well as many others.
The new Oncology Clinic will be located in the hospital's west wing, which is currently occupied by the Wellness Center. This wing is at the front of the building, which means that patients do not have to face a long walk to treatment. The new clinic is 3,000 square feet, which will provide much more space for family and friends. Two private rooms, plus a room dedicated for blood draws, will be added, so that patients will be able to have the privacy they deserve. Wellness Center services will be relocated elsewhere within the hospital.
In 2007, we appealed to major donors to begin making contributions to this expansion effort. Because of their generosity, we are over halfway to achieving our goal. However, we still have $198,000 left to raise before the end of 2008.
This year we are appealing to our employees with a special employee campaign, called “The Power of Purple.” Our goal is for 100% employee participation, and to date our efforts have been overwhelmingly successful! We are also soliciting support from our physicians, who are always ready to help us.
Finally, we are calling on you, our public, for your support. McCullough-Hyde serves many communities surrounding Oxford, and we ask all residents to make a gift to ensure the success of the Oncology Clinic expansion project.
I like to think of all of our donors as a family, as our “donor family.” And like any family, they will take care of you when you need help. During this Oncology Clinic Expansion campaign, I ask you to join our family of donors by making a special gift to the Oncology Clinic Expansion to ensure the hospital will continue to offer the best care for you and your family, and your community!
